The farmhouse Tenuta Rizzarello is nestled on the highest hills of the province of Ragusa, at about 800 meters above sea level.
Surrounded by woods and immense hilly expanses, it is the ideal place to get away from the hectic city life and relax in the utmost tranquility.
It allows you to easily reach the historic path of the "Ciccio Pecora" train on foot. Just about 20 kilometers away, you can reach the splendid and Baroque Ragusa Ibla.
The whole surrounding area is enriched by the beauty of a network of dry stone walls.
Dry stone wall is a type of wall built with stone blocks arranged without the use of any kind of binders or mortar. This beautiful rural setting frames our farmhouse, giving the outdoor spaces an authentic taste of untouched Sicilian countryside.
Discovering Mount Arcibessi, the highest peak in the province of Ragusa
Mount Arcibessi, with its 906 meters above sea level, is the highest peak in the province of Ragusa and is part of the Iblei mountain range. It can be explored by mountain bike or motocross. From the summit, you can admire a panorama that stretches from the Mediterranean Sea to the top of Mount Etna. Due to its height, it has become a site for radio-television repeater antennas and mobile telephony.

Equipped area Mangiameli
It is located just 2 km from the farmhouse with a capacity of about 200 people and offers various services: water, cooking stoves, a picnic area accessible to all; it also boasts the presence of different bird species in designated protected areas.
Equipped area Calaforno
It is about 12 km from the farmhouse with a seating capacity of 250. The equipped area features various wooden structures that blend well with the environment. Tables and benches, trash bins, and a small playground for children allow you to spend a pleasant day in an uncontaminated environment. However, please note that lighting fires is prohibited as there are no cooking facilities in the area. An adjoining wildlife area has been set up with deer and wild boars, raised for experimental purposes.
The old railway of "Ciccio Pecora"
From the farmhouse terrace, you can admire a fabulous pine and conifer forest where the path of an old steam railway is located, an excellent cycling itinerary. It was called "Ciccio Pecora's railway". The curious nickname was due to the resemblance of the little train to toys displayed in the shop window of Francesco Battaglia Ciulla, a merchant from Ragusa who was given the nickname "Ciccio Pecora". The former secondary railway line Ragusa-Siracusa-Vizzini, in the stretch from Chiaramonte to Monterosso up to Pantalica, is very suggestive to cycle through. The ancient rails have given way to dirt paths that run through the seven tunnels that were crossed on this short stretch. The territory of Monterosso, where the Rizzarello farmhouse is located, hosts the most beautiful section of the former railway, where you pass through numerous tunnels, the longest one being the tunnel just before reaching Monterosso, about 300 meters long.
